Button surprised by Ferrari fall

World Champion Jenson Button admits that he did not expect to see Ferrari's performance take such a u-turn after what he describes as 'untouchable' form from the red cars over the course of winter testing.

With Ferrari having been quick at all testing venues, not least when topping all three days as off-season running began at Valencia in February, the Maranello team is now yet to win since Fernando Alonso took the chequered flag at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

"It's quite unusual," Button is quoted as saying by Canada's The Star.

"They had the perfect winter. They were very quick, very consistent and very reliable and we were thinking, 'Wow, those guys are going to be untouchable…'

"At the first race they were very fast but we've made steady progress and at the moment we are faster and doing a better job than Ferrari; but they can come back - they're a very strong team and Fernando and Felipe have the experience. You can't ever count them out, we never forget them."
