Q: Lewis, how did today’s sessions go?Lewis Hamilton: It was not too bad today. The first session looked quite good. And inevitably I had to look at the others, and see how fast they were. They are looking very competitive, more so on the single lap rather than on the race pace. So I think in regards to the pace, we are closer, but the grip that they have in the high-speed sections is very difficult for us to touch. For us it is important to take as much ground as we can from them, to minimize their advantage.
Q: Tell us what happened with Michael Schumacher on your last lap?
LH: It is quite difficult out there to find a gap. I saw him ahead of me and I thought he was on a quick lap, but then suddenly he slowed down to get a gap between him and the car in front of him. It is more that you are trying to manage the gaps between the car in front and the one behind you. So no hard feelings, and fortunately I missed him.
Q: So is this a preview of how qualifying is going to look - very busy on the track?
LH: Yes it is, and we will even see quite a few more cars out there. It is always important to have a gap, and here it's quite tricky to have a clear gap. Everyone is always backing up at the last corner and it is maybe a little bit like in Monaco.
Q: In a promotional video released this week you and Jenson Button had to assemble an F1 car all by yourselves. How was that experience?
LH: It was quite difficult and it took us hours, but it was a good experience for the both of us to also spend some time together. What you saw was that the teamwork - and the team - is crucial be successful. And there were still many components that we did not have to do. So this shows you of how much of a good job the guys in the factory and garage do.
